Connect Your Domain!

Connecting your domain to your new site is really simple. There are a number of DNSs out there and they each have a different way of directing your name to your site. No need to worry though, we have put together some examples of the post popular DNSs to make sure you know exactly what to do.

Log into your NameCheap account. Go to “Domain List.” It should be on the left side of your dashboard. Next to your domain you will see a “manage” button. After clicking the manage button, click on “advanced settings.”

Your setting for the A Record line should have @ as the Host value. The value should be the IP number that is in the account section of your Weeknight Website. For your CNAME, make sure that your host is labeled as www and your value is labeled as your domain.

Once this is done, make sure to go back to the Account tab in your Weeknight Website account. Enter your domain name in the custom domain area and hit the Set Custom Domain button. Hitting that button will finalize your domain settings and send us a notification so that we can apply for your SSL certification. Thats it! Your domain should be all set. If it doesn’t change immediately, don’t worry. Sometimes this can take a while to propagate. 

In GoDaddy, make sure that your A record name is labeled as @ and the value is set as the IP that we’ve given you in under your Weeknight Website Account tab. For your CNAME, make sure that the name is labeled as www and the value is labeled as @.

Once this is done, make sure to go back to the Account tab in your Weeknight Website account. Enter your domain name in the custom domain area and hit the Set Custom Domain button. Hitting that button will finalize your domain settings and send us a notification so that we can apply for your SSL certification. Thats it! Your domain should be all set. If it doesn’t change immediately, don’t worry. Sometimes this can take a while to propagate.
